Muhal Richard Abrams: music and interview before Night Lights at Blue Lake…plus news of Nessa Records reissues
Posted by: David Brent Johnson on October 12th, 2007
Michigan’s Blue Lake Public Radio carries Night Lights every Sunday evening at 10 p.m. EST. This Sunday, October 13, Blue Lake jazz DJ Lazaro Vega will be offering up a three-hour special on pianist Muhal Richard Abrams from 7-10 p.m, preceding the Night Lights Portrait of Max broadcast. The program will include a great deal of music and a rare interview with the co-founder of the AACM.
On a somewhat related note, Chuck Nessa has posted news of Nessa Records reissues for the coming year at Organissimo:
The first half of the new year should produce Roscoe Mitchell’s “Nonaah” (with some new material added), Charles Tyler’s “Saga of the Outlaws”, Wadada Leo Smith’s “Spirit Catcher” and one or two others.
